Fabio Nishimura acquired Fazenda Keoma in the 1990s. When purchased, the land was almost entirely covered in a dense forest with a spring fed stream on the property.

Initially the farm was only used for cattle, however Fabio started planting coffee after owning the farm for a couple years. He started out with twenty thousand trees and now the farm has fifty thousand trees on the property, all of which are harvested by hand. Although fifty thousand trees may seem like a lot, Fabio’s 44 hectare plot is quite small by Brazilian coffee plantation standards.

After years of hard work to improve the coffees quality, Fazenda Keoma has received several awards for it’s coffee. Fabio is a member of the farmers group ASAFA (Associação dos Agricultores Familiares de Santo Antônio do Amparo), who through working with Atlas Coffee Importers provides its member access to markets outside of Brazil.

Located at 1150 meters above sea level and naturally processed, this coffee has notes of tamarind, hazelnut, milk chocolate, maple syrup, and dried berry.
