Jay Howlett (guitar and vocals) has played folk festivals and won competitions from Oregon to Florida, stopping through Texas along the way. Chuck McCabe (guitar, banjo and whistling) has recorded in LA and Nashville, on the Capitol, ABC and GRT labels, and played everywhere from Disneyland to Cap Cod. Rolfe Wyer (bass and vocals) is a long-time producer and studio session musician from New York and LA, having his songs performed by artists such as Jeffrey Osborne, on TV shows like Cagney and Lacey, and in movies like ... would you believe The Brady Bunch? (It’s true!) A little pickin', a lot of harmony, and a few bad jokes all add up to a good time ... we always have fun, anyway ... think you will, too!

Looking for some help teaching your children social graces, manners and etiquette? Sisters' residents and friends are invited to attend a parent informational session on the 'Socially Grace'd' program. What's more, the students really enjoy the instruction and seem eager to learn! Would you like your child to have the benefit of similar instruction? Coffee House Events | Oct. 10, 2009, Sat | Free Seminar: What To Look For When Buying A Computer

A computer slows down because of malware, viruses, and spyware issues as well as system demands from newer software on older systems. Often, a new computer is not the answer, but often it's the cheapest solution. How can one tell the difference between two computers when both are advertised as: 2.4Ghz, 2GB, with 250GB hard drive? Most individuals have no idea what to look for when shopping for a computer. Processor models, bus speeds, memory speeds and latency issues are all factors when purchasing a computer. The right purchase could mean your computer might last you 5 to 7 years. The wrong purchase can mean your "new computer" is actually 3 years old. What does this mean for you? Your new computer (according to IT professional advisors) might need to be replaced before you even buy it. This FREE seminar will give you pointers, websites to reference, and practical skills to effectively shop for your own computer.and know what you're talking about. Technical talk will be toned down to everyday language and examples, making it easier to understand and grasp potentially complex terms and concepts. This seminar will be run by Tim Nafziger, owner of 3 Peaks Computers, and is open to all ages and skill levels as well as Windows and Mac users alike. Tim does a great job at giving the technical info (for the nerds) into laymen's terms for easy comprehension. It will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 3pm at Sisters Coffee Shop. Coffee will be provided.

Coffee House Events-The Pearl | Oct 6, 2011, Thu, 6-9pm | 1st Thurs Art Walk- Music & Art | Paul Alan Bennet

Sisters Artist Paul Alan Bennett will be featured for First Thursday, Oct. 6, and throughout October at Sister Coffee - The Pearl. Paul holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore and an M.A. from The University of La Verne extension, Athens, Greece. His work has been featured on Oregon Art Beat as well as in various publications. Pendleton Woolen Mills re-created 16 of his paintings as large tapestries. Paul's inspiration comes from his home in beautiful Central Oregon, as well as the greater world, and he often incorporates historical and mythological themes. As a teacher, Paul has worked with all ages and has taught art history at Central Oregon Community College in Bend. He has had more than 25 one-man shows and has been in numerous group shows. He arrived at his colorful "knit" style of painting after purchasing a pair of colorful woolen gloves at a bazaar in Istanbul. Intrigued by their design and texture, he made a painting of the gloves, using gouache, an opaque watercolor. The result was a knit look that suggested more possibilities, which grew into his signature style. You can learn more about Paul and his work at www.paulbennett-art.com. This exhibit is curated by Dennis and Helen Schmidling of Sisters Gallery and Frame Shop (www.sistersgallery.com), across West Hood Ave. from our Sisters location.
